On 17.10.25, the training “Active Young Consumers” was held in Varna, part of the “Green Youth Academy” project. The event brought together young citizens concerned about the future of the planet and ready to become drivers of sustainable consumption and the protection of consumer rights.

During the training, the participants were introduced to innovative approaches to reducing single-use plastic and learned more about European practices in this area. Through discussions and practical tasks, the young people explored how personal consumer habits can contribute to a greener and more responsible society.

The project will also include a field study in local cafes and shops, where participants will observe how businesses implement the principles of sustainable consumption.
The young people will then have the opportunity to meet with representatives of the Consumer Protection Commission – Varna, who will share valuable experience related to consumer rights and control over commercial practices.

A final meeting is coming up, where participants will share what they have noticed during their visits – both positive practices and irregularities that deserve attention. This will be an opportunity for young people to analyze their observations and propose ideas for improving consumer culture in their community.

“Active Young Consumers” did not just provide knowledge – it inspired participants to be active citizens, think critically and take action for the benefit of society and nature. The “Green Youth Academy” project continues to prove that when young people have a voice and support, change is possible.
