On July 26th, the Varna-Moreto Festival hosted another event of the Green Fridays for Youth project. This time the guest of the event was agronomist Kristiana Opreva, who led a fascinating discussion on the topic “Are trees important in forests and beyond”. The event took place in the pleasant atmosphere of the open air, attracting many citizens interested in nature and environmental protection.
Christiana Opreva, an agronomist with many years of experience in sustainable agriculture and forestry, explained to the visitors why trees play a key role in both forest ecosystems and urban areas. She stressed that trees not only provide clean air, but also serve to maintain biodiversity, prevent soil erosion and contribute to climate regulation.
Oprewa gave specific advice on when, where and how to properly plant trees so that they grow healthy and sustainable. She stressed the importance of choosing the right location, soil type and the need for regular care of young saplings. Participants had the opportunity to ask questions and engage in an active exchange of ideas and experiences.
In addition to the informative part, the event included interesting questions and tests that challenged the participants to show their knowledge about trees and the environment. Participants who did best in the challenges won plants that they can plant and grow at home. This hands-on prize aimed to motivate young people to continue caring for nature and putting what they learn into practice.
The Green Fridays for Youth project continues to inspire and engage young people in Varna by providing them with a platform to learn and be active for nature.
