On 4 October 2024, the Green Fridays for Youth project held another inspiring discussion meeting with agronomist Kristiana Opreva. Due to the great interest in the first event, we were pleased to organize this event for the second time to answer the questions of young enthusiasts and lovers of gardening.

The main topic of the meeting was the difference between organic and non-organic gardening, an issue that sparked lively discussions and new insights among the participants.Opreva explained in detail the essence of the two practices, highlighting the main differences in the methods of growing plants as well as in the products used to control pests and diseases. The key environmental and human health benefits of these environmentally focused practices were also discussed.

One of the important topics of the event was how to prevent damage to our plants, a problem that often arises even with the most experienced gardeners.Opreva shared valuable tips on properly diagnosing problems such as diseases and pests, as well as on using effective methods to protect and maintain plant health. Also discussed were useful alternatives to synthetic preparations such as compost, organic preparations and watering with natural extracts.

Another key point of discussion was the question of when is the best time to plant different types of plants. Depending on the climate of the region and the specific needs of the plants, agron. Oprewa gave advice on how to plan our gardening activities to ensure the best growing conditions and yields.

The event turned into a useful and motivating meeting for all present. The participants actively participated in the discussions, asking many questions and sharing their experiences in gardening. Throughout the meeting, the atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm and a desire to improve the knowledge and practices of the youth in the field of ecological gardening.

The Green Fridays for Youth project continues to inspire young people to care for nature and develop their skills in sustainable farming practices. Following the successful second meeting with agronomist Kristiana Opreva, we are confident that interest in the topic will continue to grow and future events will offer even more opportunities to learn and share experiences.

We look forward to the next editions of our Green Fridays and the new knowledge we will gain together!
