The sea is most dangerous for beachgoers from 1 to 15 August, when a dead swell occurs with westerly winds. This is stated by water lifeguard from Varna Krasimir Keranov. This year both the water and air temperatures by the sea are higher than in previous summers and the trend for hotter weather is expected to continue until the end of the season. This has also led to an earlier influx of sunbathers. Two posts were opened as early as May 24, while in previous years this happened as early as June 1, says Krasimir Keranov, who has a long experience as a water lifeguard in Varna. This summer season he is responsible for people bathing on the small beach on the south side of the First Buna. For the last four years the man has been working in the sea capital of Bulgaria, but before that he had serious experience abroad – in Greece and Spain.
