Since 2022, a draft National Cycling Plan has been published in Bulgaria. Three years later, it has still not been adopted. The plan envisages the construction of cycle lanes or cycle paths made of fine gravel along asphalt roads or alongside them. The combination of national bicycle routes and the Black Sea Route will enable different types of cyclists to travel around the country, according to Boyko Stoyanov from the Black Sea Route Association. The towns and villages along the two routes will be accessible in two ways: along the asphalt road, once the national cycling plan is implemented, and along gravel paths near the sea coast. For now, however, the adoption and, above all, the implementation of the National Cycling Plan remains uncertain.
