We bid a respectful farewell to the Bulgarian Lev, giving it one last opportunity to serve our environmental causes. In the final days of 2025, we organized “The Big Exchange.” We called on people to donate their remaining levs and coins so that we could exchange them for green initiatives. Our motto was: “Every lev of yours will be invested in $1.95583 of our green initiatives.” We weren’t expecting a miracle, but one happened anyway.
Despite dozens of other donation campaigns running at the same time with similar approaches but different causes, ours found its friends. More than 10 citizens brought in dozens of bags filled with carefully collected coins. We sorted them by denomination and weighed them—they totaled nearly 25 kilograms. Divided into four heavy bags, we carried them to the Bulgarian National Bank. After an hour-long wait in line, the counting machine gave the final tally: 443.95 BGN. In return, the women clerk handed us 225.37 EUR.
This is our result—and yours. Sincere THANKS to all the donors who took part in “The Big Exchange”! We will invest every single euro into the development of our “Green Fridays” initiative. This means the opportunity to continue recycling your discarded perfume bottles and vials will remain. We will continue to exchange books. We will continue to maintain our space for meetings and the exchange of ideas.
And although the Lev is gone, our missions endure. They will continue to rely on your support.
