A forum on “How to be Energy Independent?” Will be held on November 21 from 9am to 1pm at the French Institute in Sofia. The event was organized by Greenpeace – Bulgaria, in partnership with the Bureau of the European Parliament in Bulgaria.
The aim is to promote the energy independence of individual citizens and the production of energy from renewable sources. Today people who want to install renewable energy systems for their own needs are going through a long and difficult legal, bureaucratic and technical process. And with one of the last directives the state crushed small producers.
Facilitating this process and decentralizing the energy system can help to tackle energy poverty and air pollution, as well as contribute to the stability of the energy system and national energy security. The use of more renewable resources is also a measure to reduce emissions and tackle climate change.
The moderator of the forum will be Slavcho Neykov, who has nearly 30 years of experience in the energy sector – he has worked at the Ministry of Energy, the energy regulator, international institutions and several energy companies. He is currently the Chairman of the Board of the Institute of Energy Management.
Lecturers will include:

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Atanas Georgiev – Dean of the Faculty of Economics at Sofia University: “Energy markets and services in the context of the Clean Energy Package for All Europeans”;

Kaloyan Staykov, Institute for Market Economics: “Transformation of the Electricity Sector – Citizens Beyond Technologies and Markets”;

Maria Trifonova, Assistant in the Department of Economics and Management by Industries, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”: “Social acceptability of RES technologies”;
