The initiative “Green Fridays for Youth” will be a guest of the Varna Sea Festival in the Sea Garden. Every day from 25 July to 9 August at the stand of the Public Centre for Environment and Sustainable Development in front of the Aquarium, Varna residents can get acquainted and get involved in the various activities of the association.
During the festival, on 26 July at 6 pm, a discussion will be held on the role of forests in improving air, climate and biodiversity. Together with the agroengineer Kristiana Opreva, residents of Varna and guests of the city will learn which are the most sustainable tree species suitable for planting in urban conditions and what trees to choose for their yard and garden. They will receive practical advice on how to care for them in the changing climate. There will also be a fun section with an “Advanced Tree Game: Life Between the Roots and the Crown”.
In addition to trees, old books will again be the focus of the Green Fridays outings. On August 2, at the association’s booth, books will be swapped throughout the day. If you would like to share with other readers titles you have already read that are gathering dust in your library, and get new ones without spending money, join the initiative.
On August 3 (Saturday) we will talk about books again, but this time about newly published ones. Together with Marcin Kershovski, a well-known personal trainer, teacher and entrepreneur, expert in biohacking, we will unravel the relationship between environmental nutrition. From 6 pm in the discussion tent of the Varna Sea Festival, Kershovski will reveal for the first time to a Bulgarian audience the principles of healthy eating from his new book “Eat”.
“Health and Environment” is also the focus on 5 August, when festival visitors will be able to make use of the services of the “Ecolab” of the Public Centre for Environment and Sustainable Development. Anyone coming to the organisation’s stand will have the opportunity to check the quality of their sunglasses free of charge and find out how UV rays affect our health.
If you would like to sign up for one of the “Green Fridays” that the association is holding at the end of August at the eco-centre in the Shabla village of Ezerets, you can do so on 6 August at the stand in front of the Aquarium. The “Eco-centre – Ezerets” is built entirely from natural materials – wood, straw and clay, by volunteers who visit it every summer, live in tents and learn different eco-building techniques.
“Green Fridays for Youth” are days for meetings, discussions, trainings and practical work on the topic of ecology. Every Friday until the end of October in the office of the organization in Varna, young people can join different workshops and discussions on “Healthy environment for living in the city”, “Green practices in the household” and “Healthy and environmentally friendly nutrition”.
The initiative “Green Fridays for Youth” is implemented with the financial support of the Municipality of Varna.
