This is what the “timely repaired” damage to the pipeline in Varna Lake looks like, according to the Municipality of Varna and the contractor. The damage was detected yesterday, when fluctuations in the operating pressure values of the pressure pipeline were recorded. This indicated the emergency situation, announced Deputy Mayor Plamen Kitipov.

Fishermen signaled on Saturday that the pipe had burst again.

Teams from the contractor company “Hydroremont IG” OOD have been mobilized and have taken immediate action to inspect and identify the problem and eliminate the accident as soon as possible, reported the Municipality of Varna.

According to the Deputy Mayor, the pipeline has been completely restored, tests have been carried out and the facility is operating under pressure.

A team from the Public Center for Environment and Sustainable Development saw bubbles and brown water coming out a few meters from the shore, above the pipe, today at noon. The signal was forwarded to the Regional Inspectorate for Environment and Water (RIEW) in Varna.

The RIEW has notified the director of the “Marine Administration” – Varna. A joint inspection has been organized by experts from RIEW-Varna, the Black Sea Basin Directorate and the Regional Laboratory at the Executive Environment Agency. During the inspection, it was established that the wastewater from the sewage pumping station (SPS) “Asparuhovo” does not reach the SPS “West”, which is also confirmed by the registered data in the system for the working pressure of the pressure pipeline.

At the request of the RIEW-Varna, water samples were taken from the wastewater flow from the SPS Asparuhovo, for which no information was received about the results of the analyses performed. At the moment, the cause of the accident has not been established.

Instructions have been given to the Varna municipality to restore the integrity of the pressure pipeline passing along the bottom of Varna Lake, announced the Regional Inspectorate for Environment, Water and Water-Varna.
