Energy efficiency is a guiding principle in the European Union’s sustainable development and decarbonisation policies. Before investing in new energy capacity, we need to implement measures to reduce energy consumption through the efficient use of energy. This not only leads to savings, but also contributes to a more sustainable future.
Promoting the intelligent management of energy resources must be at the heart of a long-term national strategy. This includes supporting the renovation of the national building stock of residential and non-residential buildings by 2050. Through well-planned and transparent programmes, we can achieve significant results towards more energy efficient and sustainable communities.
How do we realise this vision? You will find the answers in the presentation by Svetoslav Stoykov from Environmental Association “For the Earth” on “Democratic principles and transparency in building renovation programs”. He is one of the selected speakers at the annual civic forum “Conference on Democracy” 2025.
