The Public Environmental Center for Sustainable Development (PECSD) supports the recommendations for a comprehensive European strategy and policy for civil society.
The recommendations were prepared by the Environmental Partnership Association (EPA) last year. They were discussed at several regional conferences, including the international conference “Civic Spaces” in Varna in October. The final option is open to support from civil society organizations in Europe.

EPA is committed to work with the European institutions to adopt the recommendations as an official document. In it, the European Commission must commit itself to action against the tendency of shrinking civil space in the Member States.
Contact has already been made with members of the European Parliament’s Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs and with the Office of the Vice-President of the European Commission, the organizers said.
Achieving change in this direction requires long-term work and pressure from a broad “front” on civic organizations from many countries.
