22 March “Water Day” was proposed as an international holiday in 1992 at the World Conference on Environment and Sustainable Development, in Rio de Janeiro, and a year later was declared an official day by a decision of the United Nations General Assembly.
Every year on 22 March we celebrate ‘Water Day’. Water accounts for 71% of the Earth’s surface. 71% of our body is water. It plays an important role in our lives. Water is a vital need, a necessity, a home, a resource, a transport and a climate regulator. It is a common good that is shared by all living things on our planet.
However, we often neglect, waste, pollute and squander it.
Let us be responsible, sensible, daily, hourly, minute by minute.
