The Public Environmental Center for Sustainable Development (PECSD) launches the Green Friday initiative at the end of 2019! The best way to end the work week is to do something cool, something GREEN!

On our first Green Friday we announced “Return the Bottle – Get The Book!” and this call has become a permanent initiative. We collect all the small glass bottles of cosmetics and medicine that have so far ended their life’s journey at the landfill and you can pick up a second-hand book as part of the campaign. The participant leaves a lion for the Liszt Fund, to which the old books were donated. The funds raised go to environmental education for young people.

During our Friday meetings with the Varna citizens we also focus on eco-shops. Handmade cards, plastic bottle holder, drawings on old glass bottles… We recycle, learn about nature and have fun.

On the last green Friday of August and the first of September we move to Ezerets village in Shabla. For four days we sleep in tents, we build with clay and straw, we cook in an oven and live according to the laws of nature.

And in this way we work for the main goal for which we launched Green Fridays: to support youth environmental activity in Varna. Young people learn more about environmental protection by implementing environmental activities in their daily lives.

We look forward to seeing you every Friday between 10am and 5pm on 14 Sava Radulov Street in Varna!
