Ecovarna, the Public Centre for Environment and Sustainable Development, extends a special invitation to teachers and all those involved in the education and upbringing of adolescents on 1 July (Saturday) at 3 pm in the Press Room of the Festival and Congress Centre. During the Citizens Against Climate Change Forum, held under the motto “July for Climate”, we will present two innovative educational tools.
You will find out how to get involved with your students in the En-ROADS climate simulation model initiatives over the next 12 months. You will learn how to use the climate simulator in the learning process, how to explain climate change to students in a practical way, and how to engage them to participate with environmental solutions.
The learning tool is linked to the curriculum content of Geography and Economics, Chemistry and Environmental Education, Biology and Health Education, and Civics. It can also be used in “Class Hour”.
The Climate Simulator was developed by Climate Interactive and the MIT Sloan Sustainability Initiative. It is a tool designed to support educational processes. Translated and adapted entirely into Bulgarian by Apostol Penkov of the Public Center for Environment and Sustainable Development. It can be used free of charge and unlimitedly to create simulation models of the impact of human activity on climate.
The Climate Simulator presentation is part of Panel 4: Climate and Education at the conference and will start at 3pm with the presentation of another educational tool – Quizzability – Quizzes for Sustainability by Portuguese activist Narciso Antunes.
Primary and preschool teachers will be the target of another presentation during the conference. At 12 pm Anton Todorov, environmentalist and eco-activist will speak on the topic “Smile! See how nature tries to breathe!”. Through the eyes of the positive family of King Emot, who heads the country he leads, Emotikolandia, we will see how sick our planet already is. Anton Todorov will also present an original educational performance for children entitled “Danube Fireflies”. In it, a little stork, a gull, a hedgehog and two fish explain to children in a touching way how we should keep the water clean.
It will be our pleasure to have you as a guest during the other panels of the Forum, which starts at 10 am at the Festival and Congress Centre.
