Gathering of Ecologists with a Cup Mission
Mission “I choose a reusable glass” will be part of the National Assembly of Ecologists of the Municipalities in Bulgaria, which will be held from 27th to 29th November in Burgas. The goal of the launch of inox cups for drinking water in kindergartens will be presented by Ilian Iliev, Chairman of the Public Environmental Center for Sustainable Development (PECSD). This will happen on the second day of the program, when a Conference on Waste Management is planned with a focus on separate collection of household waste. The conference is organized by the French Institute at the French Embassy in Bulgaria.
Effective way to deal with unprecedented plastic pollution level is not recycling, says Sabina Maximova Coordinator of “I choose a reusable glass”. Most well-known disposable everyday items cannot be recycled or it is economically unprofitable to do that. Zero waste instead of waste recycling – this is the message that PECSD want to send to conference’s participants.
The forum will discuss the transposition into Bulgarian legislation of the circular economy package and the legislation about the ban on single use plastics. A representative of the Ministry of Environment and Water (MOEW) will speak about the topic.
The participants will get acquainted with the experience of the Municipality of Zlatograd, as well as of the French municipalities, in the separate collection of household waste. Zero Waste Opportunities and Practices will be presented, including the solution for festivals and other mass events with professional reusable cups by ZERA.
During the 53rd Assembly of Environmentalists from the municipalities in Bulgaria the new regulation on fuel quality and the new control powers under the Noise Act will be presented to the public. The subject of the discussion will be how Bulgarian municipalities could work together to improve the air quality.
On the last day of the forum the new municipal waste collection system in the Municipality of Burgas will be introduced.
