Conference on Democracy – looking for presenters/speakers/presenters on “Civic initiatives from Varna and the country,”

The Public Center for Environment and Sustainable Development (PCESD) and the Association “For the Earth” has launched the recruitment of participants for the Civic Forum – Conference on Democracy, which will be held on 26 February 2022 (Saturday).

The conference provides an opportunity to present civic causes, positions or activities in support of democratic values. Places are limited with funding provided by the organisers. Travel and accommodation costs will be covered for applicants from outside Varna.

You may also submit activities from previous years because the forum aims to provide a platform for presenting activities in support of democratic values in society – freedom and protection of civil rights; balance of interests of different groups in society; consensus building (consensus building).

The Forum also aims to facilitate debate on the implementation of democratic values and the improvement of democratic practices.

Anyone wishing to submit activities or a case study should request their participation by sending us a case study summary (up to 10 sentences) to: by 31 January 2022, 00:00. Each presenter should note that the presentation should be 18 minutes. Approved participants will receive notification back to the email from which they submitted their application and will be listed on the conference agenda.

The conference location and agenda will be announced on February 2, 2022 on the OCSD website at Approved speakers will receive detailed information about the conference.

Criteria for participants:

  • Activity to be in line with the objectives of the Forum;
  • the actor or actors of the activity must be accepting of criticism;
  • with a view to the balance of interests, priority is given first to the most vulnerable group – civic activism, second to those called upon to lead – political actors and third to business representatives.




Improving public knowledge about the role of Civil Society Organizations

The project “Improving public knowledge about the role of Civil Society Organizations” shall be implemented with the financial support of Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway under the EEA Financial Mechanism. The main goal of the project is to improve citizens’ awareness of the role of non-governmental organizations in society. This material is established with the financial support of the Active Citizens Fund of Bulgaria under the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area.
